After pouring over all the DVD/CD Laser Lens Cleaners here, that vary quite a bit in price, I took the advice of the last reviewer who said they all work about the same, so for the price this one will do the trick. So thanks “an electronics fan from New York”..You were right. The”Memorex CD/DVD Laser Lens Cleaner” cleaned and restored the performance of my DVD player(which is also a CD player), and more. It has 6 little brushes on the disc designed to remove dust and other small particles that may be lurking on your laser lens after hours of play. This ensures a crisp/clear playback.

What the buying info here on the product page didn’t tell me, was that seven “Quality Tests and Optimization Tools” are also included on this terrific little gadget. The whole process between the cleaning and the tests took all of about 5 minutes. Once the nice voice told me my lens was clean it instructed me on making sure that I was getting optimum effciency from my set up.

The tests included are 1.Stereo Imaging and Channel ID Check-checks set up of left and right speakers. 2.Polarity Test – checks positive/negative set-up. 3.Sweep Test – will let you know if all your speakers are working correctly. 4.ProLogic Imaging- checks your surround sound. 5.System Balance Check -adjusts for optimum volume levels. 6.Rattle Test – checks for vibration during low frequency emissions. 7. System Purity Test -checks for unwanted interference. If your system doesn’t “pass” any of these tests, “the voice” will also tell you how what to do to correct it, or will tell you that your system is at it’s optimum level. It will also advise you on how often to clean your DVD player.

I love this thing! It’s multifunctional, reusable(keep it stored in the case it comes with), a good brand name and the price is right. Go for it….Laurie

I own an older Sony DVD player (when they used to be around $250 gulp). I’ve been having problems playing DVD’s…they kept skipping…especially DVD-Rs. I thought the problem was with the dics but as it turned out all it needed was a little cleaning. I did my research and trust me you can’t beat this price. Works on CD players and DVD players only.

Beware that it does not work on computer CD-Roms as it will crush the little brushes.

    I hope this helps.

I live in an older home, so it’s often dusty. Add in smoke for fireplaces and over time DVD players can collect particles to mess with the super quality of DVD. This is easy to use and it really works. Had six teeny brushes that clean the heads. The program walked you through steps with very little responses from you, but also tests for things besides cleaning, like if you have you speakers hooked up to the proper channel.

I had no problems, worked as advertised.

I have a Sony DVD player from about 4 years ago that was top of the line at the time, and would still be good today if functioning.

Recently however, it was seriously malfunctioning. I would put a DVD in, and it would keep spinning, but then not recognize it at all. It would recognize and play CDs, but they would skip constantly.

I decided to give this a chance for $5 to see if I could recover my player. I ran it once and it seemed to skip less, but would still not recognize DVDs. I thought , maybe if I put it in repeat and run it a few times it might work.

Voila!!! I couldn’t believe it, DVDs were recognized and played again. So give it a try, maybe run it a few times!!!!

I was looking for simplicity in a portable DVD Player without any extras. This model is great for viewing my DVD’s and playing my CD’s at home and in the car. It is easy to use, has a great picture and sound, charger and car adapter included at a low, affordable price. Great product, you won’t regret it!

Granted, not everyone is going to end up with a defective battery (mine, after only 2 charges, was limited to 30 minutes of playing time), but there are other issues as well. The power button is extremely small and difficult to manage, the cover for the DVD feels particularly flimsy, and the volume wheel on the side is downright inconvenient – and very outdated. It’s very light, but presumably, that’s because the battery isn’t as substantial. For the extra $10 or so, the 7″ Sony – which includes a remote control as well, great if you have kids, and MUCH better battery life and controls – is a large improvement.

As we have frequent car trips of 2 hours to visit family on weekends, we picked up this DVD player for our 20 month old toddler. Our trips are now happy trips. This is a perfect size, the picture and sound are great. It easily plugs into any TV where we stay to view movies on a standard size TV for the family.

Most importantly it works well and our trips are now comfortable for everyone and she no longer minds the time it takes to get there. The battery does last two hours but we just plug it in to the included car adapter and we don’t worry about it.

This player is so easy to run you don’t really need the instructions.

    Great Buy.

I’m not usually the type to write in, but we have had this DVD player for 7 months now and it was worth every penny. I bought it for a cross country trip for my two and three year old expecting it to last 100 hours of play max before it began to break. I WAS WRONG–this thing has had easily over 1,000 hours of play and is still going strong (we don’t have a TV and thus use this player on a daily basis).

Moreover, this player has endured all the rough handling of daily life with kids–juice spills, dropping, popping open the cover while the DVD is still playing, a two year old trying to get the DVD on the center ring and repeatedly failing, repeated and very rough pressing of buttons and switches, tug of war between fighting toddlers, having the power cord ripped out, tripped over, taken in and out a dozen times in a minute, sitting in a hot car in the middle east (130 degrees Fahrenheit temperatures no kidding), sand from the beach and the desert (again, we live in the middle east so sand is literally in the air here), etc.

AND STILL IT IS GOING STRONG WITH ALMOST TWO HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE, NOT A SINGLE BROKEN PART AND NO FREEZING!

I bought this player a few months ago and it is working out great! It’s used daily for a 1 hour car trip, each way. The battery last roughly 2 hours and I recharge it each night. It has been manhandled by an impatient 5 year old but stands up to it. Would recommend.
