    The Friedland MyChime USB door chime allows you to store a selection of your own ring tones onto a USB stick. The software, as supplied, would only install under Windows XP.

    When creating the ‘chimes’ you may have to experiment with the sound levels. Some MP3 files produced a sound too low to be of use and others blast you ears until it stops.

    If you have a selection of tunes it is very quick and easy to change the chime, adding a seasonal greeting at Christmas or a birthday message.

    If this all becomes too boring the chime is supplied with a set of standard defaults to select from.

    The bell push seems to let it down a little as it does not always connect so vistors either think you are not in or that the dam thing doesn’t work.
